Open letter to Michael Badnarik and Richard Campagna

November 8, 2004 @ 2 Comments

First of all, thank you for your inspiring campaign for President. You and Mr. Campagna helped light many fires of liberty here in Iowa, and I’m proud to be one of them.

While I’ve always been a proponent of limited government, it wasn’t until your campaign that I felt truly motivated to do something, that I actually could make a difference, however small. You’ve shown me that any ordinary person can get up off the couch and do something which will have a lasting positive effect on a dozen people, in my case – or many thousands, in yours. Thank you for giving us all a reminder of what is possible.

I was also privileged to meet Richard Campagna twice during the campaign, and I could not fail to be impressed with his deep devotion to liberty and his willingness to spread the message, even on election night, when he addressed a group of about 25 University of Iowa journalism students while we watched election returns. Thank you, Richard, for all of your hard work and dedication. I hope you, too, will consider running for office again.

I will never look at American politics the same way again, and you can be sure I will continue to light the fires of liberty here. I will support your 2006 campaign for whatever you decide to run for in Texas, in whatever way I can.
