SBC Communications is facing severe criticism from Connecticut residents for dumping telephone books in driveways as the first major snowstorm of the year rolled in, causing damage to snowblowers. One resident said a neighbor with “an expensive John Deere tractor with a snowblower attachment” suffered damage when the phone book was sucked in. “I couldn’t understand why SBC threw the phone books (covered in plastic) on driveways at the start of the storm,” said Steve Wlodkowski, Southington highway superintendent.
