U.S. Border Patrol agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers, The Washington Times has learned.
You heard it right. The U.S. thinks it’s more important to let illegal aliens cross the border from Mexico unimpeded than to lose face on its ridiculous homeland security policies.
… Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, yesterday said “credible sources” within the Border Patrol also had told him of the decision by Naco supervisors to keep new arrests to a minimum, saying he was angry but not surprised.
“It’s like telling a cop to stand by and watch burglars loot a store but don’t arrest any of them,” he said. “This is another example of decisions being made at the highest levels of the Border Patrol that are hurting morale and helping to rot the agency from within.
“I worry about our efforts in Congress to increase the number of agents,” he said. “Based on these kinds of orders, we could spend the equivalent of the national debt and never have secure borders.”
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps arose as a volunteer project whereby citizens assisted the Border Patrol in patrolling sections of the U.S.-Mexico border where illegal immigration was running rampant. In one area patrolled by the Minuteman project, illegal border crossings dropped from 500 people per day to less than 15 per day. Typically volunteers were not armed and acted as spotters, directing Border Patrol agents toward people attempting to enter the country illegally. Border Patrol agents would confront, arrest and prepare these suspects for deportation.
By directing the Border Patrol not to arrest illegal aliens crossing the border, the U.S. has seriously compromised homeland security, just as the situation on the U.S.-Mexico border was beginning to improve.

We need to get the names of the people giving orders not to do their jobs on the border,by using the freedom of infermation act to find out who they are. And stop this foolishness of wasting tax payer money, not to enforce our border laws, in the time of war on terror. This is a crime of treeson in the time of war.

Article III. Section 3 of the Constitution of the United States of America defines the crime of treason and the punishment. Read it! The Constitution was designed to protect citizens of the United States. Illegal immigrants have NO constitutional rights, but WE DO!
I agree with Al, “This is a crime of treason in the time of war”. WE ARE AT WAR people, wake up!!, and Treason is punishable by death! I say we let the wetbacks cross over illegally then kill them. It’s that simple. I’m moving to Arizona soon and I for one will not put up with this!
I’m also sick and tired of OUR taxes going towards translating everything into Spanish just to make it easier for Mexicans. Where’s the incentive to learn to speak, read and write English? What’s wrong with this picture?! It’s time for us citizens to take a stand against this….NOW!!

My comment is in response to the statement by “An American Citizen” that “Illegal immigrants have NO constitutional rights, but WE DO!”
The 14th Amendment says, in part, “…nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” It does not say “citizen.” It says “person.” There is a difference.
Although undocumented immigrants do not share ALL of the constitutional rights afforded U.S. citizens (such as the right to vote), they do have constitutional rights thanks to 14th Amendment. Here are 2 quick examples:
#1 – In 1982, the Supreme Court held that illegal immigrants are constitutionally entitled to attend public primary and secondary schools. It is unconstitutional to deny immigrants public education (at the primary and secondary levels) solely based upon their undocumented status. The name of the case is Plyer v. Doe, 457 U.S. 202 (1982).
# 2 – In 1984, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that undocumented immigrants are considered employees under the National Labor Relations Act and are, therefore, protected against unfair labor practices. This means they are entitled to minimum wage, overtime pay, participate in unions, etc. [However, I concede there are restrictions on their right to receive back pay if they are wrongfully terminated]. The name of the case is Sure-Tan, Inc. v. NLRB, 467 U.S. 883 (1984).
My point is that the statement that illegal immigrants have “no constitutional rights” couldn’t be more inaccurate. It always amazes me when people offer such strong opinions about matters on which they are clearly uninformed. No one knows it all, but let’s at least try to learn a little before we start shooting off at the mouth!
