    Hi Valerie,

My wife is in the same boat. It was suggested that the cost would be about £5.00 per day. Our experience is that it is nearer £10.00 perday. What is your experience? How much does your pharmacy charge?

I’ve written to our MP and received a reply acknowledging and saying he
has written to the health minister about it. It is not only the fact
that we have to pay for Sativex it is also iniquitous that we have to
pay VAT on top of it. (A recent European Parliament edict apparently).

You are lucky to be able to get it . In the US we are years off . It is amazing how they will give out opiates that kill but not allow Sativex . I want so badly to try it for the naseau from opiate therapy , to hopefully help with the depression , pain and overall discomfort of dieing on perscription drugs much more dangerous . I have heard it helps one wean down also and relaxes the intestines so you can go to the bathroom again after 10 years of laxative use .

Right now in the US testing will start in 08 and only be done on patients with less then 6 months to live . Its obvious they are dragging their feet out of spite . Sad I know it works . I look across the Detroit River into Canada and feel helpless its so ridiculous to leave a country over a issue like this but I just may spend time there . That is if I can find a Doctor to treat me there and one back in the States to except it when they test ..Every month they test you here if your on opiates for drugs ..like what they give you is safer or should make a difference . Shame on them not me . We addict people on perscription drugs some never can stop and be normal once dependant that are innocent sick victums yet we do not offer a safe non addictive alternative out of predjudice . Sad …really sad . I feel for you in Europe having to pay tax on drugs just becuase of what it is thats wrong .

NIck2K is so correct about USA FDA negligence in new medication approval delays! I watched a special World Report last night on Sativex and being a chronic pain sufferer can not stand the currently approved opiate drugs that cause more problems to an already unbearable problem.

I also am having a hard time finding out if I can visit Canada , meet with a doctor for a prescription and then return without violating any laws!

If anyone has experience or knowledge on this issue and would kindly pass the information forward to me, I would be in your debt.

Is there a public campaign or pressure group that one can join, to speed up and campaign for the provision of Sativex spray in the USA ? Does anyone know of one ?

    Hi Valerie
I am Luis Bernardino and I live in Portugal AND I am in dispair since I have no one in Portugal to help me. In fact, my wife is disabled due to a mielitis got three years ago. Ever since she is having severe pains similar to MS. For her SATIVEX is some kind of hope.
Could you give us your coordinates in order that we contact you.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Vera and Luis

I wonder if Sativex will be on the market soon for clinical depression? I hope so, because wellbutrin, prozac, cymbalta and the others just don’t work for me.

I am 54 yrs. old and was diagnosed with MS at the age of 18. The last 6 yrs. have been bad and I recently read about Sativex but I live in the United States and I have been wondering how one might go about getting it. If it can help the pain I feel everyday it would be so wonderful.

I am a lucky Canadian who has been prescribed Sativex. I have been diagnosed with Ms for 6 years now. For the past six months, I have been taking Sativex to control the neuropathic pain I get in my legs. This medication is a wonderful thing. I will only take this medication as smoking pot does not appeal to me. It really works. I feel as though the fire that I always am standing in, has been turned off! I am sorry for all of you who do not have access to it. It would be a real benefit if only your governments would reconise the medicinal effects of THC.

    Boa tarde Luís!

Eu sou a Carla Queirós, tenho 26 anos e sou Portuguesa.
Melhores Cumprimentos.
    Carla

    Hi,
I am in Canada and I use Sativex, legally, every day for pain control. I am wondering if anyone knows of a country that I would be able to visit and take the spray with me. I don’t fancy getting arrested at the airport for importing a drug. For those of you who have never tried Sativex, it is very pungent and I doubt if I would be able to get past any drug sniffing dog.
I know one can get a prescription for Sativex in the UK but I can’t seem to find anything about visitors and their use of a legal substance in their country.
I don’t’ expect to be able to go to the US but what about Spain?

Any ideas where I could find out?
    Deborha

    It is so immorally wrong.

    Hi,

I live in B.C. and I went to a pain specialist (took 2 1/2 years to see her) and she prescribed my first vial of sativex. For the first time in ten years, I was pain free. When I went to my regular doctor, he was quite happy to prescribe the drug. He won’t prescribe medical marijuana because of all the paper-work involved to get approval but apparently there is no paper-work for sativex.
I guess finding a lazy doctor helps.

I have used Sativex for three years now and it has saved my life. I have neuropathic pain (nerve damage) and so, of course, opiates don’t work to dull or erase the pain; however, one zap of sativex twice daily along with gabapentin has given me my life back.

I can work; I go out and visit others, and mostly, I am not in pain anymore. I can’t imagine not having access to it. I know we can get medical pot but I don’t fancy smoking and I can take the spray with me anywhere and use it in public–something you can’t do with marijuana.

For those with neuropathic pain this is a miracle drug.
The drug does have side effects…I have gained about 15 pounds and stuggle to keep from gaining more. I have mental lapses. Another side effect is that I feel happy most of the time.

Funny, we can all get morphine, Oxycontin and all the other really addictive drugs but pot scares the crap out of governments.

I wish everyone with neuropathic pain had access to this but if you can’t get sativex (which is very expensive–luckily my extended health pays for it for me) pot would do the same thing for you. Perhaps your doctor wouldn’t mind filling out the paperwork for you…

SativeX is really good medicine and all but marijuana is cheaper and better, just grow it in your house…if your insurance will pay for sativex then go for it but otherwise its really cheap to grow your own marijuana.

please watch this video (Run from the cure) look it up on youtube. You can make your own medicine from cannabis, probably better than Sativex and cheaper.

Good luck and be careful. Also print out this US patent #6630507 it can be found by google and mail to your representatives. It is medical proof that cannabis has wide potential as medicine.

I have a question. I have MS now for going on 10 years. My pain doctor now wants me to go on methodone, but I know if I go there, I will probably never be able to wean off. Is there a way to get a appointment with a Canadian physician. If so would it need to be a pain med doctor? I will pay out of pocket. I am desperate. I know once you go on methodone that you can’t go off. I do not want to smoke anything. I live in a state where it is not legal to grow.
    Thanks,
    K

Good afternoon, I am Brazilian, I’m 25 years old, and I hold multiparty sclerosis for 3 years and 5 months. I was a “victim” of misdiagnosis, since I made use of many medications ineffective for pain in general. I have read numerous reports on the use of Sativex, I wonder if there is the possibility of sending to Brazil? grateful

Hello, I have had chronic pancreatitis since October 2007 I have been on methadone 90mgs per day and Oxycodone 90mgs per day. I live in the US and would like to try Sativex however I cannot as I live in Indianaand although we have tough cannabis laws I am trying to change that I am on the board of ReLegalize Indiana and also I am a speaker for LEAP Law Enforcement Against Prohibition I testified infront of a panel of 14 Senators. to try to change the laws so we will see what 2012 brings. I tried a cannabis glycerine tincture which by day three I was totally off the oxy and by day two of being off the tincture I was back on all 90mgs of the oxy. A third of the US has legal medical cannabis we need the feds to reschedule it for every state not just Big Pharma it will help so many lives in so many ways.
