I've been quietly following this story for a while now and one thing that bothers me about it is that most of the media -- even the so-called liberal-biased media -- has pretty much let this story fade into the back pages. The other thing that really bothers me about it is that Cyrus Kar is not the only one and yet no one seems to be doing anything about it. People are being arrested left and right on fairly weak reasons and given no chance to defend themselves and are treated worse than actual convicted criminals. This apparently is the freedom we are bringing to other countries.

[...] So I’m loading what appears to be a very nice plugin in an attempt to recover my site (both from spammers and a mysterious inability to post), and the guy has a “homeland stupidity button”. The top article: Cyrus Kar, an American filmmaker who was being held in Iraq indefinitely without basis, was freed after being judged “not an enemy combatant,â€? according to news reports published today. Based on the FBI investigation, the testimony of Kar and the witness he called and other witness statements, the board determined Kar was not an enemy combatant and recommended his release, which was approved. — Official statement [...]
