Iraq pullout planned; some forces to redeploy to Afghanistan

July 10, 2005 @ 2 Comments

The United States and United Kingdom have planned a phased pullout of forces from Iraq and redeployment of some forces to Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East, according to a Reuters wire report and an Agence France-Presse report.

The pullout fairly closely follows the Libertarian plan though over a longer timeline. The Libertarians had called for a one-year pullout, while current defense plans have only one-half of troops out of Iraq after that time.

Wow, check that out. Maybe the LP was not that far of the mark after all, eh?

Wonder what the people who wanted a NOW withdrawal will say about this news?
