That is exactly the problem. The paper trail is all well and good, but the computer can still disagree with it, and unless something goes horribly wrong, or someone asks for a recount, it won't be caught. Yes! I mean even I can write a program to print what someone enters all the while storing whatever I want in the db despite what the person entered.
