Wal-Mart corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., has ordered its Roanoke, Va., store to end its Friday night singles’ nights.
Modeled after successful programs in Germany, the singles’ nights allowed interested people to meet each other and set up designated “flirt points” around the store.

The corporate office did not comment as to why they had decided to end the program.

This news is disappointing. I have three friends who work for the local Wal-Mart and they were all intrigued when I told them about single’s night. They even pitched it to their General Manager.

That’s too bad. That was one of the few things Wal-Mart was good for. I was hoping it would spread chain-wide. I heard a rumor that they cut it because people couldn’t get their bows tied without staff help.

I think this is both funny and sad.
Granted, my experience nationwide with Wal-mart is that most of the people in there are rude and selfish and dressed way too casual for public and that’s just the shoppers. I don’t think I’d want to date anyone I met in a Wal-mart, but then I don’t date at all and I don’t hang out in bars either.
