Help Katrina survivors, not Pat Robertson

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is directing people who want to give to charitable organizations to, among others, Operation Blessing, which is run by Rev. Nutcase Pat Robertson.

Robertson made headlines last week when he announced on his “700 Club” TV program that the U.S. should assassinate Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. After a predictably negative response from Venezuela, Robertson backpedaled as fast as he could.

Sploid, of all places, has the full story and smells a scam in the making.

Be sure to donate only to reputable charities. The Red Cross is a good example. In fact, most of the organizations there are. Operation Blessing, run by Pat Robertson, doesn’t strike me as all that trustworthy. Ironically, FEMA also provided a link to a Federal Trade Commission article on charity fraud.
