TSA screener mistakes toy, cookie for IED

Some idiot at San Diego International Airport held up air traffic for two hours, calling in the bomb squad on a suspicious package, thinking it contained “all components of an IED.”

The children’s toy, which was not further described in news reports, and what police described as “some organic material,” were mistaken for bomb-making components by a screener, and the airport’s commuter terminal was evacuated for nearly two hours, delaying several flights, and no doubt pissing off hundreds of people.

“Those two items combined on-screen, they very much appeared to be an IED, and it turned out not to be,” Transportation Security Administration spokesperson Jennifer Peppin told the Associated Press.

Earlier this morning, bomb threats were called in to two regional airports in Long Beach and Orange County, Calif., but no bombs were found.

I just want to know what sort of toy it was, that it plus a cookie could be mistaken for bomb-making components.
