I hardly ever watch television, let alone TV ads, so I missed the ad Tim West wrote about Monday, wherein the Democratic Party says they weren’t really supporting the war in Iraq. You know, the war they all voted to support Bush starting, and all voted to give funding to.
I saw a TV commercial over the holidays that just about made my blood boil. Some time ago, I predicted that the Democrats would be attempting to rehab their image on Iraq by claiming -
A: They really were not for the war anyway, they only did it becuase Bush forced them to; and
B: Even if they did vote to go to war, it was only becuase Bush’s faulty intel that made them do it.
I didnt get to see the entire ad as I was busy cooking in the kitchen, but the basic thrust of the ad was that Democrats didnt really support the war in the first place. Of course, that’s a total lie, as the vast majority of Democrats voted for both the war and aye on all the President’s funding requests. The hypocracy [sic] of this ad is astounding, and libertarians should be the first to denounce it as political backsliding. I’m pretty sure it was a Democratic lackey and stooge org that made and funded the ad, maybe the Democratic Congressional gangsters. Can someone find this ad on the web possibly?
THE DEMOCRATS SUPPORTED THE WAR, NOT ONCE, BUT ON EVERY VOTE IN CONGRESS. For them to now blame the Republicans for bad intel and suggest they somehow are of a higher moral character is breathless in it’s shamefulness. — Timothy West
I don’t see it on the web yet either, unfortunately.
There’s only one party which opposed the war from the very beginning, and it isn’t the Democratic Party. They lie to you just as much as the Republicans, as this shows for all the world to see.
Those of you reading this who are Democrats should strongly consider whether you want to be part of a political party which advances its “causes” through the same dishonest means as the Republican Party, uses the same tactics, and has roughly the same goals. And they aren’t civil rights, the environment, or anything like that.
