I’ve suffered a hardware failure on my computer and thus further updates to this site — and to Bad Behavior — will be few and far between until it’s been resolved.
In brief, my laptop — and only computer — died today. It’s out of warranty. And I don’t presently have cash sufficient to repair or replace it. The motherboard would need to be replaced, as the onboard video has failed, and that’s about as expensive as replacing the entire laptop, unfortunately.
Homeland Stupidity has been a user-supported site from its beginning over a year ago, and though it doesn’t nearly pay all the bills, (yet!) bringing you stories of government stupidity which often don’t get sufficient attention, and providing a fresh, liberty-oriented perspective to the issues of the day, is what I do. And while I prefer the site to stand on its own and not ask anyone for any sort of help, the circumstances leave me little other choice.
I work from a laptop because, first, it’s my primary computer, and second, it gives me the ability to go somewhere (else) if need be and work “on location,” as it were. For instance, I was able to be on hand for the Madison Halloween riots.
I’ve investigated the possibility of — and borrowed the use of, for the time being — a much lower-powered desktop computer, but it’s still seriously limiting and I’m unable to do much of what I need to do to properly bring you Homeland Stupidity.
If you’ve been a regular reader of Homeland Stupidity and enjoy what I do here, please consider contributing. Just click the PayPal button here or at the very bottom of the page. Anything you choose to contribute will first go into having my computer repaired or replaced (and at the moment, it’s looking like replaced might actually be cheaper) and anything left over will go toward hosting fees and the like for this site.
If you enjoy Homeland Stupidity and want to help me continue bringing it to you, please consider contributing. And in the immortal words of Bartles & Jaymes, thank you for your support.

Good luck with your “telethon”. I am doing the same thing since christmas for a new laptop battery. The old one gave up…

Mobility is very important for me….i work best when I am not at home. Unfortunately, the city does not provide public power sockets for parks or plazas.
