Vice President Dick Cheney was rushed to the hospital early Monday morning complaining of shortness of breath and fluid retention.
Cheney, 64, who has had a history of heart trouble, was taken to George Washington University Hospital at approximately 3 a.m. Eastern time.
“His doctors found that his EKG was unchanged and determined that he was retaining fluid as a result of anti-inflammatory medication he has been taking for a foot problem,” according to a statement released by Cheney’s office early Monday morning.
Doctors placed Cheney on a diuretic and released him at approximately 7 a.m.
