They should real switch back already and just incre3ase the prices, I dont spending the extra money on REAL Sugar Coca Cola, because Im not going to be drinking the High Fructose Corn Syrup brand any more, The body doesnt digest it well which is the reason why that soda is bad for you. Diet soda is a hoax so I stat away from that too.

I just ran across this website while I was searching for information about when Coke changed the formula to include HFCS. I wanted to add one thing to the conversation:

I live in San Francisco, and within the last few years a friend of the family here in town was called for jury duty. We found out later that it was a trial concerning the fact that a high amount of lead has been found in Mexican Coca Cola. Don't want to be spreading lies - this should be public record by now, yes? I know it involved lead being found in Mexican Coca Cola being imported into the U.S. I always loved the Mexican Cokes because for the longest time you couldn't get those thin glass bottles any other way. And it always tastes so much better in glass.

Anyway, I want to say this was in the last two years, but to be safe let's say 5. (If anyone wants to research it.)

I am holding in my hand a scuffed 500 ml (medio litro) bottle of hecho en mexico Coca Cola. This was purchased at an Albertson's Market in White Center, Washington this afternoon. The bottle was manufactured in 2002, and the silver cap states that it was filled in Altamira, Tampico. It has a paper sticker, again stating it is a product of Mexico. The second ingredient listed is High Fructose Corn Syrup. No mention of Cane Sugar here. It has a bottling code in blue ink tatooed on it's neck: 09: 32618 25MAY117. Cost: $1.49 (no deposit) I don't drink much Coke, but I can safely assure you I have drank it on six of the seven continents, and it usually tastes much sweeter than here in the U.S. This has to be the driest bottle of Coke I have ever consumed. What say yee? Anyone?

My latest thing has been the Red Bull Cola, so good. It's a little more expensive but you can taste the ingredients, it tastes like actual stuff and not just "natural and artificial flavoring" If you like real cola, try it out, it's good stuff.

I like how no one has yet commented about the mercury that they put into high fructose corn syrup. If you don't believe me, check out the article by the Washington Post at

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/01/26/AR2009012601831.html

And yes...for those who are brainwashed...any amounts of mercury are hazardous to your health.

This is why I want to buy more of the Mexican Coca Cola. It is so good. Busch's food market sells it...at least for now...and they have it in Mexican Town in Detroit.

More reasons to stay away from HFCS... Recently I caught a University of Washington Mini-Medical School lecture, "Understanding a Chronic Killer: Kidney Disease, Part 1" where I heard Wendell Patrick Fleet, M.D., Professor, Nephrology- University of Washington School of Medicine, cite data showing the increasing rates of obesity in the US are exactly proportional to the increased use of HFCS in the American food chain since 1984. It's not just in soda. Check that cereal your kids are eating, the candy too. Oh, and that non-dairy creamer and many canned & boxed food products. Pretty much any processed food with a sweet flavor is likely to contain HFCS. He specifically relates the use of HFCS to the growing epidemic of Kidney illness and IIRC, he mentions a relationship to diabetes as well.

Thanks to those mentioning where I can find non-HFCS soda here in the Northwest. It was all I could do to get my family to give up consuming the very harmful diet & aspartame product; there is just no way they'd completely give up pop... I'll be checking the shelves at Costco for the non-HFCS stuff soon.
