See: Democrats bitching about military spending leaving no room for socialist endeavors. See: Republicans bitching about Medicare leaving no room for bridges to the middle of nowhere. More and more, I see Republicans and Democrats as mere variations of the same product. Socialism vs. Fascism. Tax hikes vs deficit spending. Once you get past those differences, it's just a bunch of power-drunk panderers taking your money and using it to buy a re-election and increase the size and scope of the government.

So if the public is so fed up with pork, why do they keep re-electing representatives who bring home the bacon?

I think a lot of people are only fed up with pork that other people are eating. See: Democrats bitching about military spending leaving no room for socialist endeavors. See: Republicans bitching about Medicare leaving no room for bridges to the middle of nowhere.

More and more, I see Republicans and Democrats as mere variations of the same product. Socialism vs. Fascism. Tax hikes vs deficit spending. Once you get past those differences, it’s just a bunch of power-drunk panderers taking your money and using it to buy a re-election and increase the size and scope of the government.
