A watchlist of suspected terrorists and people who provide aid and assistance to terorrist maintained by the National Counterterrorism Center numbers 325,000 names, provided by all organizations across the U.S. intelligence community, including the National Security Agency.
Names of U.S. citizens reported make up “only a very, very small fraction” of that number, an intelligence official told the Washington Post.
The names are fed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Terrorist Screening Center, from which they are distributed to other government agencies, such as the Transportation Security Administration. The government is trying to streamline more than two dozen terrorist watchlists into a more centralized database.
“We have lists that are having baby lists at this point; they’re spawning faster than rabbits,” said Timothy Sparapani, legislative counsel for privacy rights at the American Civil Liberties Union. “If we have over 300,000 known terrorists who want to do this country harm, we’ve got a much bigger problem than deciding which names go on which list. But I highly doubt that is the case.”
NCTC analysts review incoming names and will reject any which don’t appear to have connections to international terrorism, such as foreign drug dealers or purely domestic groups such as the ACLU.

Although the National Counterterrorism Center has 325,000 names, one unidentified government source has also said that “very, very few of those are within the country”. Most all the names were from beyond our borders. The list that they have compiled is proof in the pudding. It is also the strongest admission yet, from within the government no less, that there was absolutely no need or justification for the Patriot Act, other than an instrument to use for survellience and to terrorize its own citizens.

Why is it just like Pre-9/11? This country wants a strong watchdog and security system in place, but at the same time that want everyone to be able to do as they please. When you were a child, did your parents allow you to do things that were potentially harmful or life threatening? Did you have your own space where they weren’t allowed to come check on you? But now, as US Citizens, we want to be protected from the perils of the world…but we don’t want the protectors to have the means to do so. Much like sheep, naive to the dangers until it occurs. So quickly we forget what dangers await us…
