One of the perks of being a member of Congress is the free copy of Hustler each member receives every month. But Rep. Chris Cannon (R-Utah) is tired of his free subscription and wants it to stop.

But while sources on the Hill say hundreds of copies of Hustler wind up in the trash every month, hundreds more wind up in desk drawers or make their way back to staffers’ apartments. After they’ve been thrown in the trash, of course. Or sometimes they’re forgotten.

“I remember the first day I worked in a congressman’s office, and while examining the contents of my back-room desk I found a drawer full of Hustlers,” one such staffer said.

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt has been sending free copies of the magazine to every member of Congress since, depending on who you believe, 1983 or 1974. And the courts have upheld his right to do so under the First Amendment.

But since when has the Constitution ever stopped Congress from doing something?

And if that doesn’t work, they should ask the Justice Department to investigate whether the magazine is obscene and have it blocked. — Salt Lake Tribune

Too late. The Supreme Court already decided Hustler isn’t obscene. I suggest for those members of Congress who really don’t want them, just give them to someone who does. As corrupt as things are inside the Beltway, it’s shocking that a few naked women would upset anyone. Grow a skin.
