Bits of homeland stupidity

People are, at their very core, stupid. While they are capable of intelligent, rational thought, they frequently choose not to actually do so. This is especially true when they let their emotions cloud their judgment, a very common occurrence. Here are a few examples.

  • Indiana began using daylight saving time statewide for the first time in almost 30 years today. While this is something of a shocking change for most people, the stupid part is that several counties in Indiana also changed from the Eastern time zone to the Central time zone. Now you need a new, different map to figure out what time it is.
  • A woman in Athens, Ga., received a ticket from a stupid police officer for having a “lewd decal” on her car, which read, “I’m tired of all the BUSHIT.” But the Georgia Supreme Court struck down the lewd decal law in 1991 as unconstitutional.
  • London really wants the Fort Myers (Fla.) High School marching band to come and play in the New Year’s Day Parade next year. And the band wants to go. But the school district killed the idea, saying they were too afraid of terrorists.
