[...] There are differences, of course. I’ve had errors in my reporting, all very promptly corrected. I had one yesterday, in fact. A reader caught it within minutes, and I made the correction moments later. I also make no pretense of being unbiased. Rather, I disclose my biases so that everyone knows where I stand. I wish that all reporters would do this; we’d have a much more transparent and trustworthy press. And maybe several of them would finally realize that their biases are completely wrong. . . .
Ah, the press and MSM. What a topic with so many avenues of approach or reproach depending on ones views. What Mike writes is sadly true, that opinions and bias get attention. The curious point to consider is why is that? It seems to me that most of our society is just too lazy or disinterested to look at (let alone actually examine) what is being reported. We take as absolute truth distortions and often outright lies presented to us by our elitist self serving leaders in congress and so called experts and academics. Why not, they're pros with massive budgets for the media spin doctors who could make Chicken Little appear to be a great prophet, sure the sky hasn't fallen....yet! What we need in reporting is simply truth. No spin. No distortion. No created news. We need reporting that calls bul&%##@*it when they see it. We don't need race baiting like NBC placing muslim agitators at Nascar events to provoke reactions, we don't need to make headlines of ignorant bigots like Cynthia McKinney, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakahn the American Nazis or the KKK. Since these things are often given a pass in order to further a politacal agenda, we need to look to someone with the nerve and honesty to see this misdirection of the public and say whoa there stranger, thats not quite the truth we're hearing so think about this. That is how I view most of these blogs, honest folks some with great insight, most with exemplary writing skills presenting views that will never be seen or heard elsewhere.
