Is liberty centrist?

December 9, 2006 @ Michael Hampton2 Comments

As you probably know Homeland Stupidity has been selected as a finalist in the Best Centrist Blog category of the 2006 Weblog Awards, and we need your vote every day from now until voting closes on December 15. I’ve been checking out the competition, and it’s quite stiff.

First, someone asked me why Homeland Stupidity was listed in that category. I investigated and found out that a couple of other libertarian blogs were also listed in the same category. Apparently being pro-freedom is now centrist. If so, I can certainly leverage that.

Currently the voting leader is a law professor who lives just across town and blogs about, well, almost every thought that passes through her head, it seems. And she’s got a large and loyal following. Apparently she’s an actual centrist, so I’m not one of her loyal following.

If you want to help support freedom and liberty, and maybe even advance the idea that supporting both economic and personal freedom is a centrist position, go vote for Homeland Stupidity today. You can vote once every 24 hours, so please do go back every day and cast your vote and help Homeland Stupidity get before a larger audience and maybe even win the award and prevent more run-on sentences!

Unfortunately… “You must have Macromedia Flash version 7 (or greater) installed”

Giving Adobe the keys to my computer would not be compatible with supporting my *own* freedom and liberty :)

Centrist? I don’t think this left-right thing works for anyone any more. Both the right and left are fundamentally socialist. They may focus on different problems, but either way, government is seen as the answer.

So I guess if you don’t think the government is the answer, no matter the question, you are just on a plane of your own.
