Just to set the record straight, Australia has an animal ID system and it has about ruined small farmers, homesteaders, hobbyists with the hidden costs associated with it. The Australians are not a happy bunch.

One of the reasons the Farm Bureau is so interested in NAIS is for all the liability insurance they are going to be able to sell. Imagine being able to pinpoint the very line and worker that allowed some tainted meat to go through. It will be worse than a drunk driver suing the bartender that sold that last drink.
