On June 18, I visited the Plainfield, N.H., home of Ed and Elaine Brown, to attend a press conference. Since then, the U.S. Department of Justice has decided they should keep an eye on me.
But one or two people have decided that they should harass and annoy me as well.
The harassment campaign started in earnest June 27 with a message sent from a government-issued computer which stated that “you along with several of your fellow Ed supporters are going to jail.”
After publishing that message, the person who sent it backed off for a while, but in the last few days, more messages have come in.
Ed and Elaine Brown were convicted in federal court in January of tax evasion and money laundering charges. They walked out halfway through their trial after the judge refused to allow them to present portions of their defense. Since then they have remained at their Plainfield home, which is still under construction. They were sentenced in absentia in April to 63 months in federal prison each.
U.S. Marshals and others within DOJ have been reading this site for some time, but especially after I published information a month ago which indicated that a violent raid on the Brown residence was imminent. U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier has said he wants to resolve the standoff peacefully, but two apparent aborted raids stand as testimony to refute that position.
On Tuesday afternoon, one of them sent me an explicit message that I was sure to see. The following contains excerpts from the web server logs for this site.
149.101.1.130 - - [17/Jul/2007:18:54:26 +0000] "GET /2007/03/15/moving-to-new-hampshire-open-thread/ HTTP/1.0" 200 41062 "http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Michael+Hampton%22+ Manchester+NH+We+are+still+looking" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; DOJ3jx7bf; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"
This DOJ official performed a Google search for “Michael Hampton” Manchester NH We are still looking from the comfort of the office.
Shortly after that, someone sent the following message, apparently intended to intimidate, through the site’s contact form. “We will be watching the Murphy’s Crew. So keep an eye out for those cameras and sedans that will be around. Keep checking over your shoulder. The Men in Black.”

The message refers to a weekly gathering of Free State Project members at Murphy’s Taproom, a local restaurant and bar.

This will be the first time the word “chemtrails” appears on this site. I double-checked to be sure. (Is that even a word?)
All three messages appear to be from the same computer. The IP addresses are a Verizon Wireless data connection, a Panera Bread Wi-Fi hotspot, and a well-known proxy server which DOJ has a long history of using.
I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about the mental state of the person sending these messages. For myself, I can say it’s quite amusing that the law enforcement agents who “always get their man” not only can’t seem to find me, (it’s not that hard, but you will need a warrant or three) but have been reduced to sending childish messages over the Internet.
Oh, wait, that was the Mounties. They, at least, are leaving me alone.

Maybe you have some information that you’re not sharing but, simply based on what I saw in the post, I’m wondering if maybe someone (other than a three-letter-org) is just messing with you?
Michael Hampton
Jul 19, 2007
It’s within the realm of possibility. But, yes, there are a few details I haven’t released. The person who knows them is likely the culprit. This is a standard investigative technique.

I think it’s just somebody messing with you, and that they’re not even affiliated with the government. If you ignore them, they’ll eventually stop. However, as long as you keep giving their actions publicity, they’re going to continue.

Nice sleuthing numbnuts… What proof do you have that those computers were “government-issued computers” ? Show me in those server logs you posted, because I certainly don’t see it… As for the source, they didn’t originate in the DOJ, and one of them came from the UK – maybe Interpol is on you now too…
Here’s where those source IP addresses resolve:
70.195.30.181 – Verizon Wireless
64.241.37.140 – Panera Bread Wireless hotspot
85.234.150.253 – Euroconnex Networks LLP
So, in a nutshell, you have ZERO proof it was connected to the DoJ, other than your paranoid brain.

Jul 19, 2007
Buck09, please work on your reading comprehension.
There is additional evidence which points to this being a DOJ employee. If you’re from the Office of Inspector General, you can contact me and we’ll talk. Otherwise, relax and enjoy the show.

Jul 19, 2007
And what “additional evidence” would that be? Curious minds want to know.

Jul 19, 2007
It’s far too extensive to just post here. And there are other good reasons for withholding it. As I said, if you’re in the OIG you can call me.
Or, you can just admit you were the one who sent the messages, and that’s how you know who it was.

The fact that you don’t even have the technical skill to determine the source network for those messages makes me more than a little suspicious of your other conclusions. Sorry – I’m calling BS on you – if you can’t provide a simple summary, then you simply don’t know.

Excuse me, but it’s your technical skill which is lacking, since you seem to be unable to read the simple English explanation given, or the technical explanation.
Does the term proxy server mean anything to you?
Does the fact that I’ve been tracking these people for several months now mean anything to you?
And does the fact that posting ALL the details would compromise a criminal investigation mean anything to you?
Now, you can go and call me a paranoid wacko on that other forum you’re on. You can be forgiven for being stupid, I suppose. But rest assured that none of this would ever have been posted if there were nothing to it. I’ve never been given to paranoia, as you would know if you really were a long time reader as you claim.

Jul 19, 2007
Because sometimes, those black helicopters really are out to get you.
If you were worried about compromising an investigation, why post anything at all?
And yep, only federal agents know how to really use a proxy server, not just ‘fake’ use one like other ninnies.

Irony would be a cell handset connected to the SID at nearest cellsite to Panera Bread – at the same time the message
was sent, especially if that handset is on the same Verizon account as the broadband card. See where this is going?

It is amazing the stupidity and ignorance of many people about the internet as evidenced by some of the above posts. I don’t claim to know all about the internet and the details captured in an email message. Michael, I have followed your site and have seen your skills with regards the internet as well as your veracity. I have little doubt that agents of the government are sending these emails and attempting to intimidate you or harass you.
It is an excellent tactic of yours to keep their mistakes close to your vest so that they continue to make them; no sense in posting the mistakes so they can correct them or cover them up. Their mistakes will also fingerprint them in a court action. Clever, very clever.
I see a part of “SUN TZU ON THE ART OF WAR” here: “25. These military devices, leading to victory, must not be divulged beforehand.”
Please keep up the good work as I appreciate your site and comments.

Verbos, Homeland Security has been using a white helicopter. I haven’t seen any black helicopters harassing Brown supporters yet, but that white one has been surveilling the Browns and their supporters quite a bit lately.

Michael, thanks for sharing the info above! Whether or not those IP addresses and proxy servers hold any value to some of your readers here, they do help the rest of us in connecting dots. Continue sharing what you can!
Buck09, aren’t you just a wealth of information! Smoking dope induces paranoia?!!! What goverment agency did you recieve that info from? DoJ? For Christ sake, you definitely need to stop using the viagra because all the blood that should be going to your brain, isn’t making it through. It’s obviously affecting your judgement while instilling in yourself a paranoia of people who smoke dope.

Jul 25, 2007
I have to go with the paranoia thing. I am new to this site but think you may have your tin-foil hat on too tight. Give me about 15 minutes and I could pull down utilities from the internet that would make it appear that I am watching you from an island somewhere off Figi. That being the case, if the DOJ wanted to monitor your internet dealings, I am thinking they could do so very easily without being so easily “found out” (in quotes because I still think you are being messed with by someone not related to the government).
The Brown’s broke the law and they should do their time. End of statement.
Last, in regards to your black helicopter picture, if the government did not want anyone to know who was flying the thing, why put any markings on it at all. Anyone with a little money could get a high powered camera. Again, loosen the hat…
Michael Hampton
Jul 25, 2007
David, since you’re new around here, you can be forgiven for having no idea what you’re talking about.
You certainly can “pull down utilities from the Internet” which will make you look like you’re in Fiji or wherever.
But I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years, and I know how to tell that you aren’t actually in Fiji.
Again, you can be forgiven for not knowing that a thing can be done. Most people who read the above have no idea how to interpret it.
Finally, it’s not my black helicopter.
David
Jul 25, 2007
Michael,
Just because I am new around here does not mean I do not know what I am talking about anymore that you “doing this for almost 15 years” means you do. Don’t patronize me. You loose credibility when you do.
Along those lines, I apologize for the tin foil hat comments. They were unecessary and probably caused a loss of my credibility.
I agree with your point, knowing I am not where I appear to be is easy. Actually pinpointing my exact location is not. All I am saying is that if the DOJ really wanted to watch you anonymously they could. If you are being watched and you can prove it that is because the powers-that-be want you to know. Get over it, move on, and don’t publish it because you do come off as paranoid.
I apologize for assigning you the black helicopter when all you did was post the link.

What people probably don’t understand here is that Proxy Servers don’t always cover ones tracks. A proxy will sometimes allow system administrators to see past the bull and see who is really there. Some do and some don’t. Also proxy servers are there as a tool to allow some people some privacy while surfing if they want. They shouldn’t be used to harass.
Reading the messages is seems to me that it could be:
1) Some college kid who would like to annoy you
2) A rouge DOJ employee who needs to feel big about him/herself
3) Or a little of both
I am sure that there is some college student out there who hates the cause for which you are standing for. I am sure there is a frustrated DOJ employee out there too.
As for helicopters, cameras, the guys in black. I cannot talk about that because I know nothing about those situations. I am sure if there is a helicopter bother you probably do have cameras and guys in black watching.
Know your limitations and know your enemies limitations. Always keep your enemy at arms reach.
Good luck and great reporting.

Umm…. didn’t he say the helicopter wasn’t his? I thought it was just a topic-related post of a photo-of-the-day.
The alphabet-soup-agencies definatly have the money and knowledge to be discreet enough to be untrackable (as do some of us), but if this is a rougue agent, he probably is being careless b/c he’s off his rocker.
