I was just reading my comment from Oct. 2 above.

You probably think I'm joking around, but you should think about it. It is very difficult for most people to actually get their hands on their wealth. What something is worth and what you will actually get from its' sale after the banks and the governments are done with you are two different numbers.
As far as savings, investments and pensions, they are just numbers on paper. Try to get them as cash in your hand and you run into withdrawal limits, penalties and taxes. The police can seize any briefcase full of money they find as possible proceeds of crime and you won't get it back.
Getting your net worth and all of your available credit out of the country in the form of untraceable liquid capital would be almost impossible.
But like I said, my friend and I had it all pretty much figured out.

For more information, send $29.95 to Bob at Homeland Stupidity and I'll send you the complete do it yourself kit with easy to follow directions and a full list of possible exotic escape destinations.
Ha! Just kidding. There really is no hope. Forget it. Forget all about it. Just keep going through the motions of being alive and someday it will all be over.

...at which point you said "where's the door?" and left.

Wachovia = "Walk-all-over-ya"

also...

the first time I had that overdraft problem was with Wachovia, when i told them I didn't want that overdraft protection "service", they simply told me that it wasn't an option and that it came standard with the account.

I've run into this problem a couple times... whats happened to me though... when I went to another bank, they denied me an account, because I didn't pay back the overdraft charges. I currently cannot have a bank account anywhere locally in town.

Typical commie government nonsense. Screw up an industry by partially regulating it, then when it behaves suboptimally, claim that the reason is because it isn't regulated enough, and add *more* regulation. Lather, rinse, repeat. Where's the reset button?

My friend and I hatched a plan a few years ago to really stick it to the banks and the government. It involved maxing out all of our credit cards and overdrafts in less than a week and converting the bulk of that amount into cash, plus co-ordinating this action with the sale of all of our assets. Get all the money in cash and head to South America before the tax man and the banks know what hit them.

We actually had a lot of the details worked out, because it wouldn't be as easy as it sounds. There would be a lot of planning, and timing would be critical. It's bank robbery and tax evasion basically, without all the guns, drugs and prostitution.

You could live a long time down there with a few hundred thousand dollars. Stick it to the bastards! HA! HA! HA!

But we never did it.

The question/remark was:
—————
"So what’s to be done with banks that screw their customers by offering unwanted “services” which turn out to be more hassle than convenience? Nothing.
—————
Yes, I agree. I am a Credit Union member.
.
My savings account is used to cover whatever overdraft might occur on my checking account.
.
Of course, if I had my 'druthers,' there would no longer be any such things as 'banks.'
.
Credit Unions are THE way to go, in order to avoid egregious charges and idiotic policies, inasmuch as the depositors are ~the~ owners.
